Joining Information

Cadets:
If you are interested in joining we recommend you come and visit us on a parade night (every Tuesday and Thursday between 19:00 and 21:30) at our Headquarters. Once you have had a tour and the chance to experience what we do, you will be given a permission form and a date to start probationer training so that you get up to speed on all the required knowledge you will need on many of our exciting activites.

It would be a good idea to telephone/e-mail us first to make sure we are in and not out on an activity before visiting.

Although much of the funding for activities such as flying are provided by the RAF, once cadets are enrolled we do charge a subscription of £5/month or £55/year which helps cover the costs squadron upkeep and equipment. We issue a working and wedgewood blue uniform. However footwear and 'greens' (or combat uniform) will usually need to be provided by the cadets.

Remember just because you join the ATC is doesn't mean that you have to join the RAF or any of the services. However, it may help you see the RAF from a different angle.

Adult Staff:
The squadron is always looking out for committed members of adult staff (20+ years old) who are able to spare some of their time filling either uniformed and civilian roles. Commissioned Officers are part of the RAF Voluntary Reserve (Training Branch). All adult staff have no reserve call-up liability so you will not be sent into combat!

Roles vary from cadet instruction to organisation behind the scenes, depending on your interests. Please contact the Squadron for more information.
